Established in 1935 by Maharaja Sree Chithira Thirunal, the Sree Chithra Art Gallery, located near the Napier Museum, houses a remarkable collection of paintings. Highlights include works by renowned artists such as Raja Ravi Varma, Svetlova, and Nicholas Roerich, as well as exquisite pieces from Mughal, Rajput, and Tanjore schools of art. The gallery also features an impressive oriental collection with artworks from China, Japan, Tibet, and Bali, and unique copies of Indian mural paintings from pre-historic times to the 18th century.
