Overview
Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple is situated on the banks of the River Pamba in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta district. Known for its annual Vallasadya (ritual feast) and Vallamkali (boat race), this temple is one of the “Divya Desams” revered by the 12 Alwar saints. Constructed in the traditional Kerala style, it is celebrated in the Divya Prabandha, the Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries AD. The temple is associated with the legend of the Mahabharata and is one of five ancient shrines built by the Pandavas in the Chengannur area.
