Eravikulam National Park, in Kerala’s Western Ghats, is a sanctuary for endangered wildlife, lush landscapes, and the rare Nilgiri Tahr.

 

Overview

Eravikulam National Park, Kerala’s first national park, is located in the Idukki district near Munnar at about 2,000 meters above sea level. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also known as Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, the park is famous for the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and offers eco-tourism activities. The park hosts diverse flora and fauna, including the Nilgiri Tahr, leopards, tigers, Indian bison, and numerous bird species.

Entry fees are Rs. 125 for Indian adults, Rs. 95 for children, and Rs. 420 for foreigners.

Trekking

The Kurinji Trail offers a gentle trekking experience, guiding you through the tracks of the Nilgiri Tahr and the Neelakurinji-covered grasslands. This three-hour trek is available in both morning and evening sessions.
